NYPD: 17-year-old suspect in custody after fatal August parkway crash

US

Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy they say drove the wrong way down the Henry Hudson Parkway last month and killed two people.

The arrest ends a three-week search for the teen who police say drove a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on the wrong side of the parkway and crashed into multiple vehicles early Saturday morning, Aug. 24.

Police said the teen, whose name has not been released, ran away from the scene, leaving behind his 21-year-old passenger who was hospitalized and questioned.

The crash killed Kirk Walker, 38, from Manhattan and Robert McLaurin, 40, from North Carolina. Walker was reportedly supposed to be married the next day.

Police charged the teen with second-degree vehicular manslaughter; second-degree criminally negligent homicide; and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
