At least 3 shot in Dallas, police searching for suspect

US

(NEXSTAR) – Three people were shot Thursday afternoon in downtown Dallas and the suspect is still on the loose, police said during a press conference.

Police responded just after noon to the 1800 block of Commerce Street, a spokesperson for the Dallas Police Dept. said at a news conference shortly before 3 p.m. CT.

A resident of the 12-story Continental building located at 1810 Commerce St. told The Dallas Morning News that she heard the shots break out in a nearby unit.

Dayana Bailey, 54, who lives on the 8th floor, told the newspaper the gunfire was followed by “the most terrifying screaming and screeching,” adding that blood was visible in the hallway and elevator when she walked out of her unit.

All three victims were transported to local hospitals, but their conditions weren’t immediately known.

The website for The Continental says that along with a wellness spa, private parking garage and other amenities, the building itself is access controlled.

The Dallas PD spokesperson said police had no information about a possible suspect, and no arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon.

Citing an ongoing investigation, police declined to take questions as they continue to search for the person or persons responsible.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
