CHP pursues speeding driver in Southern California

US

Authorities are in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle near Rancho Cucamonga Friday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol told KTLA that the driver has topped 100 mph during this chase, which began after a hit-and-run in Victorville.

When Sky5 first arrived overhead just after 2 p.m., the driver of the large white SUV had traveled to Norwalk and Downey.

They were consistently traveling over 100 mph, topping 120 at one point, though a few minutes later, the driver hit stop-and-go traffic.

With patrol vehicles on their tail, the driver wove through slowed vehicles and even traveled off-road at times.

Sofia Pop Perez contributed to this report.
