LLANO, Texas (KXAN) — One person has been placed in custody after making threats on social media, according to the Llano independent school district.

The district said due to the incident there will be an increased law enforcement presence on campuses on Friday. The school district also had an increased police presence on Thursday, after it was made aware of school shooting threats made on Wednesday.

This comes after several Central Texas school districts also had received threats on social media alongside Llano ISD.

One of those threats led to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office detaining a 6th grader for contributing to the spread of social media school shooting threats, according to Hays CISD.

At the end of August, authorities had arrested 17-year-old Giana Castillo for making online threats against Graham Elementary School located in northeast Austin. An affidavit obtained by KXAN had stated she planned to kill her family members before going to the school’s campus.
