NASCAR Rumor: Cup Series Driver Linked To Surprising Truck Series Move For 2025

Corey LaJoie, a seasoned driver with Spire Motorsports, is now at the center of intriguing rumors suggesting a major shift in his racing career.

After his unexpected contract termination this summer, LaJoie has struggled to secure a new spot as most teams had already finalized their lineups for 2025. However, this free agency shake-up might lead him to a top-tier Truck Series team, potentially with Rick Ware Racing, according to a report from The Athletic.

Speaking about his future, LaJoie commented:

“My phone’s going and people are interested in making calls,” LaJoie said on Aug. 23.

“But every good door in my life that’s been opened hasn’t been opened by myself; I wasn’t the one ripping those doors open, they were open and I had to walk through those when the time was right. So I have faith and I have confidence that the next door, whether it’s on Sundays (Cup) or not, is going to open.”

LaJoie found himself unexpectedly in the job market when his contract was abruptly cut short by a year. Confirming his upcoming departure earlier in the year, LaJoie explained:

“I won’t be driving the 7 car next year. I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately the future won’t involve me.

“We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, my family, fans & friends who have supported me since day one in the Cup Series. This chapter ends after Phoenix and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next.”

The addition of LaJoie to RWR could be a game-changer. Known for his ability to draw and nurture sponsor relationships, LaJoie has a reputation for outperforming expectations with smaller teams. This knack for punching above his weight class makes him an attractive prospect for RWR.
