Remembering the life and career of music legend Johnny Cash

Singer Johnny Cash, born John R. Cash on Feb. 26, 1932, in Kingsland Arkansas, went on to become the king of country music and earned the nickname ‘The Man in Black’ throughout his decades in the music industry. With hits like ‘Folsom Prison Blues,’ to ‘Ring of Fire,’ Cash was one of the best-selling music artists of all time, selling more than 90 million records worldwide, winning multiple Country Music Association Awards and Grammys and being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the GMA’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. On Sept. 12, 2003, less than four months after his wife June Carter’s death, Cash died in a Nashville hospital of complications from diabetes at the age of 71.
