Boat crash in lake’s Playpen leaves 2 hurt, 1 critically

Several people were rescued during a boat crash Wednesday night in Lake Michigan’s Playpen on the North Side.

Sometime after 9 p.m., paramedics rescued four people, including two who were injured, when a boat crashed in the 600 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago fire officials said.

One patient was taken to an area hospital in critical condition while the other was in fair condition, also taken to a hospital, the fire department said.

Two additional boaters declined to be taken to a hospital, fire officials said.

No further information was immediately available.
