LOMBARD, Ill. — A 14-year-old student at Glenbard East High School is facing felony charges after a gun was discovered inside the boys’ bathroom, authorities said.

The teen is charged with unlawful use of a weapon at school and possession of a firearm by a minor.

No one was hurt, but the school said it would increase police presence for the rest of the week.

Around 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, a student notified a security officer that he found a loaded 9 mm handgun in the bathroom. Lombard police officers traced the gun to an address in Glendale Heights, which authorities later determined to be the juvenile’s home.

The teen appeared in court Wednesday afternoon and will remain jailed until his next court appearance on Monday.
