16-year-old Clovis Unified student killed in motorcycle crash

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the 16-year-old killed in a motorcycle crash in Fresno on Tuesday.

The Coroner’s Office announced Wednesday that the teenager killed was Austin Ly.

According to the Fresno Police Department, 16-year-old Austin Ly was the motorcyclist found in the road on Tuesday afternoon in the area of Tulare Avenue and Fowler Avenue in Fresno, not far from Fancher Creek Elementary School. He was pronounced dead a short time later. Investigators say the driver of the other vehicle involved remained at the scene.

Clovis Unified School District also confirmed on Wednesday that Austin Ly was a student at Clovis East High School. Staff described him as a “well-known and well-liked student in our JROTC program and around campus.”

The school district added that staff and students at Clovis East are grieving, and members of both the educational team and mental health support team were on campus on Wednesday for student support.
