A man and a woman have been arrested in the alleged sexual and physical abuse of “multiple” young children in Connecticut, authorities said Wednesday.

Quintin Jones, 29, and Dorcas Otero, 31, were arrested on Sept 5. as part of an investigation into “multiple allegations of sexual abuse as well as physical abuse to multiple children dating back to November 2023,” the Meriden Police Department said in a news release.

The victims were between the ages of 4 and 9 at the time of the alleged crimes, officials said. They did not say what relationship Jones and Otero may have had to the victims.

Jones has been charged with first-degree sexual assault, three counts of risk of injury to a child and two counts of cruelty to persons, police said. He’s being held on $500,000 bond.

Otero is charged with two counts of cruelty and two counts of risk of injury and is being held on $300,000 bond.

Meriden authorities said they are working with partner agencies to “provide services to the affected victims and their families,” adding the department is “wholeheartedly committed to protecting children.”

“We appreciate the victim’s bravery and cooperation in this case which likely resulted in the prevention of future crimes against children,” Meriden police said.

Meriden, a city of approximately 60,000 people, is located some 20 miles north of New Haven.
