You’d better double check all the closets.
Hotel guests have left some wacky stuff behind after check out — everything from dirty laundry and a pet lizard, to a $10,000 Hermes Birkin bag and a $6 million Rolex, according to a new report.
While mobile phone charges and electric adapters remain the most common forgotten items found in hotel rooms worldwide, some items in lost-and-found bins can raise some eyebrows, according to a new report published by Hotels.com on Sunday.
“At Hotels.com we know hotels inside and out – it’s in our name,” Melanie Fish, vice president of global public relations for the site, said in a statement.
“By asking hotels to reveal the secrets behind their most memorable stays, we discovered that these ‘inn-sights’ have actually inspired services available to guests today,” Fish said. “From guitar concierges to pet healers, hotels are catering to travelers’ unique demands, which may well become the norm.”
Compiled from reports from more than 400 hotels worldwide, the list includes the ritzy watch and purse but also some bigger head-scratchers, like a car tire, construction pipes, a tooth and a pet chick.
One hotel found a pair of full leg casts, another a rice cooker and yet another a blender.
Some 10% of the hotels reported that guests had left their dentures behind.
But the list doesn’t stop at the lost and found bin — Hotels.com also compiled some of the oddest and ritziest perks ordered up from room service.
That includes a request for four pounds of bananas, a bathtub filled with Evian water for a spoiled young guest, burnt toast and a caviar-topped hot dog, the site said.
The Hotel New Otani in Tokyo allows guests to stroll through a 400-year-old Japanese garden, and the Four Seasons Hotel Austin in Texas will deliver a top-rate guitar to the rooms for guests to strum.
