NYT ‘Connections’ September 10: Answers, Clues for Game #457

US

Having trouble solving today’s Connections categories? Newsweek has some helpful clues and hints for game number 457.

Connections is a word game launched by The New York Times in 2023 following the massive success of Wordle, another word game of the newspaper’s created by Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle.

The answers for Tuesday’s Connections game will be revealed at the end of this post, so please scroll with caution if you want to work them out yourself.

How to Play Connections

Each day, players are given a set of 16 words in a grid format. These words need to be separated into four groups of four based on their shared themes and put into categories. For example, in Monday’s puzzle, one of the categories was “Get red in the face,” and the words associated with that category were “blush,” “burn,” “flush” and “glow.”

The categories are labeled with a color—yellow is considered easy, followed by green, then blue and then purple, which is usually the most difficult.

Players start by selecting words they think go together based on shared themes or characteristics. Once four are selected, the player hits “Submit.” If the answers are correct, they will light up with the difficulty color and will be removed. If they are incorrect, they will appear gray in color and remain on the board. You can then “Deselect all” and start again.

There is no time limit for the puzzle but players get four tries to get it correct, so guess wisely. There is also a “Shuffle” button for a fresh start if you’re stumped.

If after your four guesses you didn’t solve the puzzle, the answers will be revealed.
