CHICAGO — A search continues this weekend for an elderly man who went missing after leaving his West Side home to go for a walk on Thursday afternoon.
According to Chicago police, a search is underway for 86-year-old Abdias Castaneda who was reported missing by his nephew at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers say the missing man was last seen leaving his home in the 2300 block of South Sacramento Avenue in Little Village to go for a walk in the area but has not been contacted since.
Authorities say Castaneda was last spotted wearing a maroon long-sleeved shirt with blue jeans and red sandals.
Castaneda, who stands 5-foot-2 and weighs around 117 pounds, has grey hair and brown eyes.
In a photo provided by Chicago police, Castaneda can be seen with a mustache, however, it is unclear if he had one at the time of his disappearance.
Authorities provided details about the missing man in a news release sent out on Friday.
