CHICAGO — The annual PAWS Chicago 5k kicked off on Saturday, bringing giveaways, pet massages, treats and more to the city’s North Side.
The event got underway at 7:30 a.m. at Grove 16 at Montrose Harbor and promised a fun-filled day for thousands of animal lovers who kicked off the weekend raising funds and awareness for homeless pets.
Alongside the annual 5K run, the annual event features sponsor giveaways, a dog agility course, pet massages, prize raffles and treats.
Organizers say the event, is one of the biggest dog-friendly events in the city.
Some of the furry friends available for adoption came all the way from a partner shelter in Texas for the special event, ready to find a forever home.
Following the run, which ends around 11 a.m., Jewel-Osco is hosting “Yappy Hour” at the dock.
The after-party runs from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. and will feature food, giveaways and Bark Bags as well as a “Strut Your Mutt Contest.”
Visit the Paws Chicago website for more information on the annual event or to book an in-person appointment to potentially adopt a furry friend.
