Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter extends hours for free adoption event

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter said it will host a free adoption event this weekend as part of the nationwide “Clear The Shelters” campaign.

The shelter’s event starts Friday and will last through Sunday, Sept. 8, the release said. WCRAS said it is extending its hours Saturday, closing two hours later at 8 p.m.

The event will waive adoption fees all weekend to make finding a new furry friend a seamless process, the release said.

“Whether you’re looking for a playful puppy, a loyal dog, a cuddly kitten, or a calm cat, you’ll find many wonderful animals waiting for loving new homes,” the release said.

Those interested can preview all adoptable pets online. Anyone can schedule an appointment online, but walk-ins are also welcome, the shelter said.

Shelter hours this weekend

  • Friday, Sept. 6 | 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 7 | 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. (open two hours late)
  • Sunday, Sept. 8 | 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
