One firefighter was injured battling a brush fire that took more than an hour to extinguish because of high winds Thursday afternoon in East Dundee.

Firefighters were called to the 1200 block of East Main Street just before 1 p.m. Due to the lack of nearby fire hydrants and high winds, neighboring departments were called in to assist.

One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
