WATCH: Xavier Worthy scores touchdown the first time he touches the ball in the NFL

AUSTIN (KXAN) — He has the all-time NFL Combine record in the 40-yard dash, and former Texas Longhorns star Xavier Worthy showed off his blazing speed Thursday night the first time he touched the ball in an NFL regular season game.

He took a jet sweep around the end of the line for a 21-yard touchdown early in the first quarter for his new team, the Kansas City Chiefs, electrifying the Arrowhead Stadium crowd against the Baltimore Ravens.

Worthy, a wide receiver, typically runs after he catches a pass, but Chiefs coach Andy Reid has all kinds of things drawn up for him to take advantage of Worthy’s world-class speed.

With tight end Noah Gray and center Creed Humphrey making two nice blocks at the point of attack, Worthy took a flip from Mahomes behind the line of scrimmage after a fake to running back Isaac Pacheco. Worthy surveyed the field and cut in between the blocks of Gray and Humphrey and sprinted through a crowd with a convoy of Chiefs ahead of him.

At the NFL Combine in March, Worthy clocked the fastest 40-yard dash time in event history with 4.21 seconds.
