Suspect arrested after woman found shot to death in Orange County

A suspect was arrested after a gang-related shooting left a woman dead in Orange County.

The suspect was identified as Roland Rocha, 42, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

On July 29, police responded to reports of a shooting near 600 South Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana at around 4 a.m.

Arriving officers found a woman, Jennifer Ninel Rodriguez, 20, lying on the ground near the entrance of a business. She had several gunshot wounds to her upper torso.

Paramedics transported Rodriguez to the hospital, where, despite life-saving measures, she died from her injuries.

Homicide detectives later identified Rocha as the shooting suspect. On Sept. 3, he was located in Compton and taken into custody on murder charges.

The motive behind the deadly shooting was not released, however, investigators confirmed it was gang-related.

The case remains under investigation.
