Two men shot in Oakland, one shooting site still not confirmed

US

OAKLAND — Two men were shot in Oakland within eight hours Wednesday, but police are still not exactly sure where one of the shootings happened, authorities said.

About 1:17 p.m. Wednesday, a 44-year-old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds entered a shelter in the 2200 block of San Pablo Avenue near downtown seeking help.

Before being taken to a hospital, he told police he was shot about a block away by another man during an argument.

But police could not find any evidence of a shooting at that site, including any video or gunshot detection alerts.

The man underwent surgery at a hospital and police have been unable to talk to him yet to get more details.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined. No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.

The other shooting, that left a 38-year-old man wounded, happened about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 9700 block of International Boulevard in East Oakland.

Authorities said the man shot was in a vehicle with some other people in a parking lot when they got into a verbal dispute with a man standing outside.

When the victim, who was the driver, and the others with him started driving away the other man began shooting at them,  hitting the 38-year-old man in the shoulder. No one else in the vehicle was hurt. The wounded man was able to drive to a hospital in another city but was later transferred to another hospital where he was in stable condition Thursday, authorities said.

Police have not yet said what the dispute that prompted the shooting was about. No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call police at 510-238-3426.
