AUSTIN (KXAN) — Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Music Office announced in a Wednesday news release that $20.2 million is on offer to the state’s live music industry.
Abbott said in the release that the funds were approved during the 88th legislative session in 2023. The funds are part of the Texas Music Incubator Rebate Program (TMIR), which gives qualifying venues and festival promoters a full or partial refund on particular taxes.
“Texas is where live music lives,” said Abbott in the release. “A vibrant local music industry not only adds to the quality of life, it is a competitive advantage, helping Texas attract major capital investments, culturally diverse talent, and new jobs in a range of industries.”
This is an effort to help the live music industry grow by giving up to $100,000 in relief, the release said.
Those interested in applying can do so on the Texas Music Office website. Applications will be open through Nov. 30, the release said.
