Chicago muralist's mission: To bring art to the people

US

CHICAGO — A study by the National Endowment for the Arts revealed that fewer than 30 percent of Americans have stepped into an art museum or gallery within the last year.

That got mom and artist Heather Armstrong thinking: What if the art was just outside your door?

After all, it was Pablo Picasso who once said: “Art washes away from the soul the dust of every day life.”

And while Armstrong’s paintings may not hang in prestigious art museums, they do exactly what Picasso said: evoke unexpected joy by those lucky enough to discover them.
