The restaurant is an expansion of San Diego’s Civico 1845, which has been a staple in Little Italy since 2015. Chef Pietro Gallo prioritizes local sourcing while catering to plant-based diners by creating vegan versions of traditional Italian treats—think rice-based mozzarellas and almond cream ricottas. Of course, there are plenty of non-vegan highlights, with a couple of favorites being the 14-day dry-aged New York steak and the Pacheri Civico, which is a seafood pasta with clams, calamari and prawns.
