Family searching for missing Southern California man

Authorities and loved ones are searching for a missing Southern California man.

Raul Varela Jr., 60, was reported missing on Aug. 29, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He was last seen on the 24000 block of Woolsey Canyon Road in Canoga Park at around 10 a.m.

Varela is described as a Hispanic man standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He has a tribal tattoo on his right arm and a koi fish tattoo on his left leg.

He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, white t-shirt and blue jeans. Family members have not heard from him since his disappearance and are concerned for his well-being. He is also dependent on medication, loved ones said.

Anyone who may know Varela’s whereabouts or has additional information is asked to call LASD’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500.
