Gunmen open fire on Loop coffee shop, damage window

CHICAGO — An investigation is underway after two gunmen opened fire on a coffee shop in the Loop early Monday morning.

Chicago police said the gunfire erupted just after 2:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North Wabash Avenue.

Officers were called to the scene following reports of shots fired in the area and when they arrived, they found the window of the Starbucks Coffee, at the corner of Washington and Wabash, had been damaged by what appeared to be gunfire.

Following a preliminary investigation, officers determined that two unidentified gunmen fired shots at the coffee shop before fleeing the scene in a white vehicle.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the gunfire.

According to police, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and an investigation is now underway.
