Crews battle Irwindale vegetation fire near Santa Fe Dam and Highway 210

US

Crews stopped the forward progress of a second-alarm vegetation fire in Irwindale burning about 30 acres with flames and smoke visible from the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area and Highway 210.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported the fire is 60% contained as of 5:25 p.m.

Multiple grass fires started in the area around 3:30 p.m. Monday and later merged into one, according to LACOFD.

Before the wind shifted around 5 p.m., California Highway Patrol officials helped redirect traffic on the 210 when the fire was closest to the highway. At 5:02 p.m., the CHP incident log reported the smoke no longer impacted 210 traffic.

Sky5 was also overhead around that time, seeing about five LACOFD helicopters on the scene.

This is a developing story, updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
