Man shot several times while at barbecue in Mount Prospect, police say

Mount Prospect police are investigating a report of a man being shot multiple times Sunday night while attending a barbecue.

Police in a news release said they were called about 10:16 p.m. to a BP gas station, 800 S. Elmhurst Road, Des Plaines, for a report of a person who had been shot.

According to police, a 33-year old man was at a barbecue north of the RecPlex, 420 W. Dempster St., Mount Prospect, when two men he knew approached, began arguing with him and then began shooting at him.

The man was shot several times and fled toward the gas station, police said. He was treated at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for wounds not believed to be life threatening, according to the news release. No one else was injured.

The shooters, described as white with blond hair, left in a white, older model Chevrolet conversion van, the release stated. Police said multiple shell casings were found at the scene.
