Car drives into harbor after crash at South Side park

CHICAGO — A man was hospitalized on Sunday evening after driving into a harbor at a South Side park following a crash.

According to Chicago police, the crash unfolded just after 7 p.m. in the 2300 block of East Marquette Road at Jackson Park in Woodlawn.

Officers said the driver, a 28-year-old man, was traveling eastbound along East Marquette Drive when he was involved in a crash with a Nissan that was traveling in the same direction. The man then continued driving into the harbor.

Crews were called to the scene and pulled the man from the water and he was taken to the hospital where he was listed in good condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash and authorities have not provided any updates on the condition of the other driver involved.
