Modesto man shot in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 24-year-old Modesto man is in critical condition after being shot Saturday in Oakland, police said.

Authorities are investigating the shooting, which occurred about 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of East 18th Street and Sixth Avenue, according to authorities. The victim, who was standing outside in the residential area, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso, police said.

It is unclear how many suspects or what motives were involved in the shooting, police said.
