CHICAGO – Two people were arrested for an armed carjacking and shooting Friday night in South Chicago.

Chicago police said just before 8:15 p.m., a man was standing next to his vehicle in the 8100 block of South Escanaba Avenue when two suspects, armed with guns, approached him and demanded his vehicle.

The suspects drove off in the man’s vehicle, while he and a 41-year-old woman followed in a separate vehicle. The suspects then fired shots at both the man and woman, grazing the woman in the right shoulder, according to investigators.

The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

Police said officers found the man’s vehicle in the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue and both suspects have since been arrested. A gun was also found at the scene.
