AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two buses returning McCallum High School band students back to campus from the Taco Shack Bowl were involved in a crash Thursday night, according to the Austin Independent School District.

The crash occurred just before midnight near North Lamar Boulevard and San Gabriel Street.

The school district said five students and a driver were treated at the scene, however, they did not require transport by EMS.

The driver of the car that hit the bus suffered “potentially” serious injuries and was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, according to Austin Travis County EMS.

Austin ISD said there is an active investigation and the district was unable to provide additional information Friday morning.
