Suspected DUI driver leads California Highway Patrol officers on chase

California Highway Patrol officers pursued a suspected DUI driver for more than two hours through Los Angeles County on Thursday.

Authorities say the chase originated in the La Verne area at about 1:45 p.m. when the driver, a man in a silver Mercedes-Benz, refused to pull over.

Helicopter footage showed the man weaving in and out of traffic on several L.A. freeways and surface streets, often encountering slow traffic.

Around 4 p.m., the driver pulled into a parking lot at 10th Avenue and West Washington Boulevard, where he stepped out of the vehicle, dropped his keys and surrendered without further incident.
