'Multiple tips' lead to arrest of Inland Empire man for possession of child pornography

US

A man from San Bernardino County was arrested last week and faces possible charges for possession of child pornography.

Christopher Monroy, 38, of Grand Terrace was arrested at his home by deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Monroy became the subject of a cyber crimes investigation after authorities received “multiple tips” regarding him possibly possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material from the internet.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received the tips and forwarded them to local authorities for investigation.

A search warrant was served at the home in Grand Terrace, which is located about 5 miles south of Colton. The search resulted in the recovery of several undisclosed items of evidence and ultimately led to Monroy’s arrest.

Monroy was booked into the Central Detention Center in Rialto to await possible charges for possession of internet child pornography. Jail records indicate that he was later released after posting bail.

A court date has not been set and the case has been forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the SBSD Central Station at 909-387-3545. Anonymous tips can be provided online or by calling 1-800-782-7463.
