Cedar Park hosts blood drive ahead of Labor Day

CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — We Are Blood, a nonprofit blood center in Central Texas, said it was partnering with the city of Cedar Park on Aug. 30 for a blood drive.

“Labor Day weekend usually brings more accidents and more blood transfusion needs, while the blood bank experiences low donations throughout the summer. WRB and its partners urge the community to make a difference this Labor Day and lend an arm,” WAB said.

The blood drive is at Cedar Park City Hall, 450 Cypress Creek Road, and runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Williamson County and We Are Blood recently launched a partnership with city officials and first responders in the county for Wilco Saves, which included the cities of Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Taylor, and the Williamson County EMS.

The partnership also allows paramedics to give blood transfusions at an emergency scene, cutting down the time it takes for a patient to receive a lifesaving infusion.

In total, it will host seven blood drives. The campaign runs through Sept. 18, with the next blood drive being in the City of Round Rock.

“One donation can save up to three lives,” WAB said in a statement.
