Pet Cam Films Cat Throwing Kitten off Kitchen Counter ‘The Lion King’—Style

US

A cat who wanted to keep peace and order in the house took matters into his own paws and taught the kitty a lesson.

The family’s kitten wouldn’t stop jumping onto the countertops, which plenty of owners experience. Cats love getting onto counters or higher spots to observe their territory or perhaps they’re scrounging for food. But knowing this to be a no-no in the house, the older orange cat, Frank, needed to set the record straight.

Frank joined the kitty, Whelan, on the counter and immediately got to business. The pet camera captured him grabbing the kitty’s scruff in his mouth. Frank held onto Whelan in “The Lion King” fashion and carried him around, debating the best way to get down safely.

Accepting he was caught, Whelan froze. There was no point in trying to fight. He knew he was wrong and would rather get a talking-to from his sibling than his parents.

The caption on the August 20 video posted by user @frankandwee reads: “Frank is always left on babysitting duty.”

It took time for Frank to decide what he would do with the badly behaved kitten. Instead of pulling a Scar move from The Lion King, which some viewers expected, he tried jumping off the counter together. However, it wasn’t too graceful.

Newsweek reached out to @frankandwee via Instagram for additional information.

The Instagram video amassed over 5.6 million views, 560,793 likes and 600 comments. Viewers applauded the cat’s exemplary efforts.

“Upholding the laws and regulations – example citizen,” said an Instagram user, with a second person suggesting: “Give him a raise.”

Another wrote: “Not the stepdad, but the dad who stepped up.”

Someone pointed out: “At least he tried to gently take him down vs grabbing him and throwing him off.”

Keeping Cats Off Counters

Cats aren’t known to be great listeners. They act like rulers of the household and no matter how much you beg and plead for them to stop jumping on the counters, they do it anyway. What is an owner to do?

Catster shared methods that might do the trick in keeping your cat off the counter. This includes foiling the countertops or adding sticky tape to discourage them from getting on top. Another option is to use a citrus-based spray to deter them.

If your cat tries coming after food while you cook, keep them in another room and when you’re done cooking, clean your space. No food should be left out as it might entice a cat to jump up.
