Three shot, one fatally, near Chicago Lawn: police

CHICAGO – One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting Wednesday night near Chicago Lawn.

Chicago police said the shooting happened just before 8 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Campbell Avenue.

Three men were standing on the sidewalk when two suspects approached and shot at them, according to investigators.

Police said a 41-year-old man was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene; a 51-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to University of Chicago Hospital in fair condition; a 37-year-old man was shot in the arm and leg and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in fair condition.

No arrests have been made and Area One Detectives are investigating.
