AUSTIN (KXAN) — Frontier Airlines will launch nonstop service between Austin and Atlanta beginning in October, the airline announced Tuesday.

Flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will begin Oct. 11. The year-round service will operate three times a week, with introductory fares as low as $29.

Flights will depart Austin at 1:44 p.m. on Sundays, 5:47 p.m. on Mondays and 4:23 p.m. on Fridays. The route will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, with 180 to 186 seats.

“We are thrilled to launch this service from Austin to Atlanta as we continue to grow our network of affordable and convenient travel options,” said Josh Flyr, Frontier’s vice president of operations and network design. “For consumers looking to travel to Georgia, or beyond, it is our privilege to provide them exceptional value and a superior travel experience.”

The Austin-Atlanta route is currently served by both Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines. AUS CEO Ghizlane Badawi called the Frontier addition “fantastic” for the airport.

“We are so grateful for Frontier’s support and their presence as one of three ultra low cost carriers in our market is incredibly important to us as we strive to offer airlines with competitive and affordable options for AUS customers,” Badawi said.

The Atlanta route is Frontier’s second new nonstop from Austin this year. Service to Cleveland, Ohio, began in May.
