AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is dead after a shooting happened at an apartment complex in east Austin, Austin Police Sgt. Lee Knouse said during a media briefing Monday.

At approximately 2:08 p.m., 911 dispatch received an emergency call of a shooting at the complex in the 1300 block of South Pleasant Valley Road, Knouse said. He said the incident occurred on the property but not in a unit at the complex.

When officials arrived on the scene, they found a man, described by Knouse as Hispanic and in his 40s. Life-saving attempts were made by first responders, but the man was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m., according to police.

Knouse said police did not believe there were no outstanding parties directly involved.

Anyone who may have any video or audio evidence in connection with the homicide can contact the APD Homicide Unit at 512-974-8477. Tipsters can also contact Crimestoppers at 512-472-TIPS(8477), Knouse said.

There was no danger to the public, he said.
