Man shot and killed in South Chicago, police say

A man was killed Friday night in the South Chicago neighborhood, according to Chicago Police.

A man, estimated to be between 35 and 40, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound in the abdomen near the 7900 Block of South Philips at about 11:10 p.m. by police, who had responded to a ShotSpotter call and an additional call of a person shot, according to police.

The Chicago Fire Department treated the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
