Five injured in Edison Park crash involving stolen vehicle

Five people were injured on Friday night in a car crash involving a stolen vehicle in Edison Park, according to Chicago Police.

A 21-year-old man with three passengers was driving at high speeds in a stolen vehicle and being monitored by a Police helicopter, police say. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another vehicle with a woman driving near the 7600 Block of West Touhy Avenue at about 10:35 p.m., according to police.

The driver of the stolen vehicle sustained a spine and leg injury and was taken to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition, and the other four involved were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries, police say.

Officers recovered a handgun, and detectives are investigating. Police say charges are pending and traffic citations will be issued.
