AUSTIN (KXAN) — Beginning Thursday, three wildfires have been reported in Central Texas, and local and state officials have responded to help.
North Art Complex Fire
Fire departments are working to put out a wildfire in Mason County. The fire, named the “North Art Complex” fire, was ignited due to a lightning strike.
So far, the fire has burned more than 4,313 acres, and officials said it has been 70% contained.
As of Friday morning, the Texas A&M Forest Service said no structures have been lost.
San Saba Mesquite Fire
The San Saba County Office of Emergency Management said the Mesquite Fire was at 110 acres with 65% containment.
Crews aiding with the fire include the Texas Forest Service and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, as well as three local volunteer fire departments.
A lightning strike that occurred Thursday was deemed the cause of the fire, and according to officials, high winds and heat also contributed to the fire.
So far, there have been no deaths or injuries reported, and there are no evacuation orders.
Bastrop Pine Dump Fire
The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management provided information regarding day two of the Pine Dump Fire, which began Thursday.
The office said the 11-acre fire increased to 80% containment late Thursday night as crews completed the bulldozer lines, and emergency management staff stayed at the scene through Friday morning to ensure the fire stayed inside those lines.
According to the county, both state and local resources returned to the fire Friday morning, and plans included girding the area near containment lines for residual heat.
Officials said smoke could be visible in the area from materials burning inside the perimeter of the fire’s bulldozer lines.
