Logan Paul Speaks Out After Video Sparks Claims He Pushed Dog Off Boat

US

Logan Paul has vehemently denied accusations that he pushed his dog into a lake for “content” after one of his old videos resurfaced online.

In a YouTube video from 2020—titled “Can I Borrow $250,000?”—the internet star and wrestler is on a boat with his friends and his dog Broley. At one point in the clip, his dog jumps into a lake and panic ensues. Paul follows shortly, saving Broley.

The video has resurfaced recently, with some social media users speculating that Paul pushed the dog into the lake intentionally. On Thursday, a Reddit user created a post titled “Logan Paul attempts to kill his dog by pushing it into a boat propeller for ‘content’ and tries to pretend it just jumped off”—which they posted to /r/h3h3productions, the subreddit dedicated to the h3h3Productions YouTube channel created and hosted by Ethan and Hila Klein.

At the time of writing, the content of the post had been deleted, leaving only the title. However, users commenting on the post called Paul “disgusting” and accused him of animal endangerment.

The day the Reddit post appeared, Paul took to X, formerly Twitter, to clear the air, posting a clip of the moment Broley jumped into the lake “in slow motion & HD.”

Newsweek contacted spokespeople for Paul and h3h3Productions for comment by email outside normal working hours.

Paul first posted a screenshot on X of a comment he made four year ago on the original YouTube video, which said: “Clarifying in the comments: we would NEVER, EVER, EVER, push broley off the boat. he jumped and a hand was behind him, petting him, and when he jumped, we attempted to grab him but FOR A FACT we did not push him. watch his body language and you can very evidently see a self induced, independent jump from the little mut. thanks for coming to my Ted talk.”

A viewer responded to the YouTube comment, “Sad thing is people ain’t gonna believe this,” to which Paul replied: “Yeah I just watched in slow motion. wasn’t even touching him & when he jumped the hand followed. Go f*** yourselves.”

Paul captioned the X post, “I would NEVER,” and at the time of writing, it had been viewed 1.6 million times.

Paul then uploaded the slow-motion clip of Broley jumping into the water. In the video, he can be heard saying, “Broley don’t do it,” before the dog leaps off the boat. Afterward, Paul repeatedly yells, “Stop the boat.”

After Broley jumps, the video is slowed down and text appears on the screen: “Two different hands, attempting to stabilize Broley to prevent him from jumping (pulling back).”

One X user commented on Paul’s post: “People are trying to do everything and anything to cancel you [face palm emoji] not even acknowledging the fact that their is atleast a possibility of you trying to grab him before he jumps… instead going to the extreme conclusion of you ‘hurting your dog for a vlog’ smfh.”

Paul is no stranger to online criticism, having previously been embroiled in various controversies. He was once accused of “scamming” his followers with CryptoZoo, a cryptocurrency game he produced in 2021.

At the time, the influencer described CryptoZoo as a “really fun game that makes you money.” In December 2022, YouTuber Stephen “Coffeezilla” Findeisen released a series in which he labeled the project Paul’s “biggest scam.”

While Paul threatened to file a defamation lawsuit, the incident deescalated when Findeisen wrote on X that Paul had called and was “dropping the lawsuit threats.”

Paul was criticized in 2022 after he made serious tax fraud allegations against Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny. Paul has also previously been accused of taking advantage of Puerto Rico’s Act 22. The law allows global residents to move to the U.S. territory and avoid paying taxes on transactions such as stocks and real estate.
