US

A man is snatching iPhones from unsuspecting women in Midtown and fleeing, police said on Thursday.

The man allegedly approached four women in the last two weeks between Bryant Park and Herald Square and took three iPhone 15 Pro Maxes and an iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to NYPD officials.

Police said all the women were walking in the early evening and had their phones visible in their hands. They ranged in age from 22 to 64 and were not injured, authorities said.

According to NYPD data, grand larcenies in this part of the city have dropped 14% compared to this point last year but are still higher than they were before the pandemic.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in finding the alleged thief. Those with information are asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
