CPD looking to identify suspects in Blue Line hammer attack

CHICAGO — A day after a man was hospitalized following a hammer attack at the CTA’s Western Blue Line station, the Chicago Police Department has released photos of suspects wanted in connection to the crime.

CPD said the attack happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday on the platform of the Western Blue Line stop found in the 400 block of South Western Avenue.

A 31-year-old man was standing on the platform when a female walked up to him and took his phone by force.

When the 31-year-old man tried to take his phone back, a male hit him in the head with a hammer several times before he and the female fled the scene, according to CPD.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with several lacerations to his head, where he is listed as being in good condition.
