Chris Cuomo wants brother Andrew to give up politics

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo wants big brother Andrew, the former governor of New York, to stop thinking about politics.

“I wish he would want to remove himself from that process, because of how ugly it is, how reductive it is,” the former CNN host told the Daily Beast in Chicago, where the Democratic National Convention is in full swing.

Andrew Cuomo resigned from his role as New York’s governor in August 2021 amid accusations of sexual misconduct. But rumors persist that he may be itching to get back into the family business. The brothers’ father, Mario Cuomo, spent 12 years in the governor’s mansion.

According to Chris — who was also accused of sexual harassment before leaving CNN suddenly at the end of 2021— his 66-year-old brother prefers being in government to any other occupation.

“He thinks I’m crazy and he doesn’t see anything that matters the way public service does,” 54-year-old Chris said.

He noted that while media is also a dirty business, it’s not nearly as ugly as elected politics.

CNN said it parted ways with Chris Cuomo because he advised his brother amid the scandal that cost the former governor his job. The anchorman responded by filing a $125 million lawsuit against his the cable news outlet.
