The Obamas fire up the DNC

CHICAGO (NEXSTAR) – As the DNC enters its third day powerhouse Democrats are using the convention to pitch their idea of America to voters and Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris got a major boost from a former president.

Former President Barack Obama laid out his case for electing Kamala Harris to the presidency in what was one of the most anticipated speeches of the convention.

“America is ready for a new chapter. America’s ready for a better story,” said former president Barack Obama.

Hoping to recapture some of the hopeful energy that propelled him to the Oval Office 16 years ago, former president Barack Obama says for Americans the choice should be clear.

“This is a person who has spent her life fighting on behalf of people who need a voice and a champion,” said Barack Obama.

Mr. Obama was the first former president to speak at this year’s conventions and he was joined by other Democratic heavy hitters, including his wife.

“Kamala Harris is more than ready for this moment. She is one of the most qualified people ever to seek the office of the presidency,” said Michelle Obama.

On the convention’s second night, one high profile speaker after the next took the stage to say why they believe Kamala Harris should be the next president.

“Only one candidate will move America forward. Kamala Harris,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Former President Bill Clinton is expected to speak Wednesday night, along with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and VP nominee, Governor Tim Walz.
