It’ll be a cool and pleasant start to the work week in Chicagoland.
You may even say a little fall-like.
High temperatures Monday will reach only into the mid-70s inland and cooler along the lake, with a northeast wind gusting up to 25 miles per hour keeping the heat away. It’ll remain dry and mainly sunny, though the breeze could blow in some cloud cover or an isolated shower.
Early-morning temps were pleasant around Chicagoland, ranging in the 60s as the sun emerged and started to break overnight cloud cover.
The gusty northeast winds will also make for very dangerous swimming conditions at Lake Michigan beaches, with waves of 6 to 10 feet, so it’s important to stay out of the water for at least a couple days.
A High Swim Risk has been issued for Cook and Lake counties in Illinois and Lake and Porter counties in Northwest Indiana until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Temps remain cool through the middle of the week, before August heat builds back up again by the end of the week and into the weekend, when temps will rise up to around 90 again.
