Person remains missing following swim in Lake Travis

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Authorities began a recovery mission Saturday after an adult who went swimming in Lake Travis did not resurface, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

TCSO said 911 received a call at 5:50 p.m. about a man who reportedly jumped from a cliff and did not resurface. The rescue mission transitioned to recovery at 6:37 p.m., according to authorities.

The search continued until nightfall and resumed at 7 a.m. Sunday; however, as of 1 p.m., it remained ongoing.

TCSO said the effort has included shoreline, surface, aerial and sonar searches. A remotely operated underwater camera has also been utilized.
