Mayor Mike Johnston held another Community Conversation, this one focusing on affordability, in north Denver last week, and residents had plenty to say about the red tape and high fees making it difficult to build accessory dwelling units on their property to combat displacement from rising rents and home prices. Nita Gonzales, the oldest daughter of iconic Chicano activist Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales and an outspoken critic herself, told the mayor that she has been building an ADU for a year and a half, and it will be the only thing that keeps her in Denver…
