Here are three takeaways from the Jets’ 15-12 preseason win over the Panthers:

1. The Jets front seven has some depth

Even without their starters playing, the defensive line played well.

Will McDonald managed to sack Panthers quarterback Jack Plummer and others showed good penetration against the Carolina line.

2. Olu Fashanu started at right tackle and played the entire first half

The first-round pick played left tackle last week.

The Jets are trying to get him ready to be the primary backup at both spots.

Fashanu was flagged for holding and struggled on some running plays but held up well in pass blocking.

2. The Jets had some nice special teams plays

Brandon Codrington had a 63-yard kickoff return to start the second half.

Codrington, who later had a 31-yard punt return, is a longshot to make the Jets roster but he helped his cause with the returns.

Backup kicker Austin Seibert made four field goals, including one from 52 yards.

Seibert won’t be on the Jets, who have Greg Zuerlein, but he could get picked up by another team.
