US

A group of 20-25 individuals on bikes performed a smash-and-grab robbery on a Hollywood 7-Eleven store on Friday night, and then the same thing happened at another nearby store, according to authorities.

The first hit was reported at 8:02 p.m. at a 7-Eleven store on 7040 West Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Employees told KTLA’s Erin Myers that the group of individuals smashed a window and stole food and beverages from the store before fleeing the scene.

Another location, on 5700 Santa Monica Boulevard, had a similar instance happen. A front window was smashed as of Saturday, although no additional details were immediately available.

It was believed that a third 7-Eleven store was also victimized by a smash-and-grab overnight.

There was no confirmation whether the events were performed by the same group, although they could be related.

The instances come just one day after Governor Gavin Newsom, joined by a bi-partisan contingent of state legislators, announced the signing of 10 bills aimed at preventing retail, auto and property theft.
